INTERFAITH RAMADAN DINNER (IFTAR)
Similar to the Jewish faith, Muslims operate on a lunar calendar. Each year in the holy month of Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn until sunset for 29 or 30 days until the arrival of a new moon. We do not
eat, drink or have conjugal relations from dawn until sunset. Ramadan occurs about ten days earlier each year. Ramadan was the month in which our Holy Qur’an was revealed from God to the lower heavens and then delivered to our beloved Prophet, Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) by the angel Gabriel over a period of 23 years.
In the spirit of building bridges of dialogue and understanding regarding our faith, annually we invite other faith practitioners to experience a day of prayer, fasting and the ritual fast breaking (iftar) at
sunset with us.
