Donate to Orlando Pulse Victims Fund

Our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this act of terror and with their families and we stand together with the entire Orlando community at this difficult time. There is no reason for such senseless acts of violence and hatred to exist in our society, no explanation to be given and sadly no magic words of comfort to offer the victims’ families or each other. All our lives are forever changed, our innocence lost once more. All we can do is be there as a source of support and comfort to our community and to mourn the awful loss together. Tomorrow and in the coming days there will be several opportunities for our members to show our support.

Our community will join together with the Rosen JCC for a special prayer vigil in memory of the victims at Pulse Orlando. It will take place on Wednesday, June 22. This special service will be held in the Rosen Events Center at the JCC and is open to the community. Security will be present for this event. Additional details about the Family Communal Memorial Service can be found by clicking here.

In an effort to aid the victims in whatever ways we can, SOJC is opening up a special donation opportunity to help support the needs of the victims and their families. We encourage you to open your hearts and donate to the victims by clicking the PayPal Donate link below. While the synagogue is collecting the money, all funds will be given to the One Orlando Fund to distribute aid and assistance.

We have also begun plans to host a blood drive as soon as possible. The need for O-negative blood is quite urgent and if you are of that blood type and can donate sooner, we urge you to do so. Details will be forthcoming.

We hope and pray that the remaining hours of Shavuot bring comfort and consolation to all the mourners of Zion, Jerusalem and the people of Orlando.
