Rabbi Hillel Skolnik’s Torah Spark for Parashat Noach 5777

Rabbi Hillel Skolnik’s Torah Spark for Parashat Noach 5777

This Shabbat we read from Parashat Noach and once again think of the story of the flood where God destroyed the world in the hopes of giving Noach’s descendants an opportunity to recreate a more perfect version of the world.  What a perfect metaphor that is for a week to come which includes Election Day, our chance to select the leaders of our city, state and country, this year obviously including a President.  The difference is, however, that we don’t need a flood to come and destroy our world in order to fix it, we only need us and our participation in the process to make the world a better place.  God promised never to destroy the world again. It’s up to us to make sure that we don’t either.

Shabbat Shalom,

Rabbi Hillel Skolnik
