11 Jan SOJC Sisterhood Presents an outing to Mad Cow Theatre Sunday, February 18 @ 3:00 pm
Based on the life and discoveries of astronomer Henrietta Swan Leavitt, Silent Sky is comical, clever, and cosmic. A period piece that transcends the turn of the century, echoing the gender gaps of today. The audience begins their astral journey when Henrietta is offered a job at the Harvard Observatory in the changing USA of 1900. Torn between leaving behind her sister or pressing on into the future, she finds herself in the lab with two brilliant women analyzing astronomical data. Lusting for the telescope but forced into grunt work and number crunching by her male superiors, we follow Henrietta’s journey through the cosmos and into the epic scientific discoveries she made.
The Sisterhood welcomes all women and young women 8 years or older to enjoy the story of Henrietta Swan Leavitt, Female Astronomer Pioneer at the turn of the twentieth century.
