SOJC Proudly Announces its Part-time Rabbinic Intern!

His name is David Shmidt Chapman. “Rabbi David” will be entering his final year at JTS in the fall. He originally hails from Chicago and received a Bachelor of Arts with the highest honors in  Dramatic Arts from The University of North Carolina.

Rabbi David is a recipient of a U.S. Fulbright Grant for a yearlong study in Budapest, Hungary as well as a Henry Luce Scholarship for a yearlong study in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. He then went on to Fordham University where he received a master’s degree in Nonprofit Leadership. He is now attending JTS and is a Wexner Graduate Fellow along with other distinctions during his tenure. His work history includes producing and directing plays on and off-Broadway as well as serving as a fundraising associate director where he was responsible for cultivating and managing fundraising for some very prestigious foundations.

Rabbi David has served as Rabbinic Intern at Sutton Place Synagogue in New York City as well as a Chaplaincy Intern for Project ORE for the homeless.
